I was eleven in 1975 and had grown up with Gerry’s shows, so when I heard SPACE: 1999 was coming, I was incredibly excited. When it finally aired I was (like the Moon) blown away – the premise, sets, story… everything was astounding, and I fell in love with the whole show instantly. I began collecting cuttings from magazines, drawing pictures of the uniforms, insignia, equipment and, of course, the Eagles.

The Eagles were instantly the best thing about a show that to me was already perfection. I adored seeing them on screen and had photos, cuttings and posters to help me draw my own versions and variants. I still remember the heart-stopping excitement of finding out Dinky was bringing out Eagle Transporter and Freighter models (for £2.99 each), something that became a dream for me. I bugged my Mum for ages, begging for a Transporter, and when she finally told me she’d bought me one for my birthday, I’m not ashamed to say I cried with joy. I still have it, too.

That dream became a lifelong obsession, and as you can see I’m lucky enough to have a whole fleet now, which brings me sheer joy every single day!
