"The Eagle Obsession" (formerly known by the working title "The Eagle Has Landed") is a visually stunning feature-length documentary that follows sci-fi creator Jeffrey Morris as he investigates the origins of the iconic Eagle Transporter from Space:1999 and the ongoing global impact of a unique moment in human history—when people walked on the Moon.

FutureDude Entertainment founder Jeffrey Morris is an award-winning writer, director, producer, entrepreneur, and production designer. He’s been obsessed with the Eagle’s beautiful and functional design since childhood. At that time, he discovered a link between his favorite fictional spacecraft and his favorite real one—NASA’s Lunar Lander. Now, he’s ready to explore that connection, and more, with you!

Space: 1999 is a British science-fiction television program created and produced by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson. Production began in 1973, and the program aired 48 episodes over two seasons (beginning in 1975). Space:1999 followed the 311 inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha, who became stranded on the Moon after it is blown out of Earth’s orbit by a massive nuclear explosion.

The Eagle is a modular, multipurpose spacecraft that is the primary method of transportation for the inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha. This beloved ship has garnered millions of fans across the globe—including luminaries in the worlds of film and TV production, real science, and science fiction.

The now iconic Eagle Transporter was created by Space: 1999 Special Effects Supervisor Brian Johnson. Johnson’s lengthy and legendary career includes winning Academy Awards for his work on both Alien and The Empire Strikes Back.

The role of Captain Alan Carter was played by Australian actor Nick Tate. Some kids idolized Star Trek’s Captain Kirk. Jeffrey Morris’ sci-fi role model was the pilot of the Eagle. We’ll hear what it was like to fly a fictional spacecraft via actor Nick Tate’s amazing, and colorful, personal stories.

Production on “The Eagle Obsession” began in early 2023 under the working title “The Eagle Has Landed”. Filming commenced during the Summer of 2023 at locations throughout the US, UK, and Europe. Filming continues at multiple locations during early 2024, including Texas, California, and Arizona.

We are very proud of the talented artists involved in the creation of “The Eagle Obsession." Practical sets and props are being built by Makinarium at Pinewood Studios in London. Virtual sets and other elements are in development at FULL STEAM Studios.

“The Eagle Obsession” is planned to premier in 2025 in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of Space: 1999.
