For this humble kid from Lisbon, Portugal back in 1977, the premise of Space: 1999 – the action, the actors (I was already a fan of the Martin Landau thanks to Mission Impossible) and above all, the Eagle, were factors that totally blew me away. I only saw perfection – despite the blurred black & white images from our old Phillips TV set – and I just couldn’t wait for more! I felt a level of excitement like never before. The Eagle fascinated me the moment I saw it for the first time in Breakaway… a fascination that remains strong till this day!
